Quick answer

Free restaurant POS software in India comes in four kinds: free plans (Zoho POS, Odoo, Loyverse), free mobile apps (Vyapar), open-source POS you download for PC (Floreant POS, uniCenta oPOS) and free trials of paid systems. Free works for a small counter; most restaurants pay once they need kitchen display, captain ordering, inventory, CRM or more users.

"Free" means different things from different vendors: a permanent free plan with limits, a trial that ends, or software that's free to download but costs time to set up. If you're new to POS, our restaurant POS system guide explains what a POS should do for an Indian restaurant. This page focuses on the free options.

How we checked: we reviewed each vendor's own website on 10 October 2026. Plans and limits change often, so confirm details with the vendor before you decide. We make F&Bos, which has no free plan; we say so below.

Zoho POS: the most complete free plan for small outlets

Zoho's free plan includes offline billing, KOTs, inventory and GST invoices for one register and one user, for businesses billing up to ₹12 lakh a year. It's a good fit for a single small counter. Table service, the waiter app, kitchen station routing and Swiggy and Zomato integration need paid plans.

Odoo: free if POS is all you need

Odoo's point of sale is free with unlimited users when it's the only Odoo app you install. The moment you add Inventory, Accounting or another app, you move to a paid per-user plan, and aggregator integration needs Odoo Enterprise and a separate UrbanPiper subscription. See our Odoo POS restaurant review for the full picture.

Loyverse: generous features, but check GST

Loyverse's free core includes a kitchen display, loyalty and multiple stores, on Android and iOS. Sales history is limited to 31 days unless you pay, and staff management and advanced inventory are paid add-ons priced in US dollars. It supports tax setup, but doesn't document an Indian GST bill format, so test your bills with your accountant first.

Vyapar: free GST billing on Android

Vyapar's Android app is free with limited features and is built around Indian GST billing. Restaurant features such as KOTs and table management, multi-device use and the desktop version need paid plans. Before installing any POS on a phone, read our guide to restaurant POS apps for Android.

Floreant POS and uniCenta oPOS: free to download for PC

Both are open-source desktop POS systems you can install on Windows, Mac or Linux and run offline. Floreant POS is designed for restaurants, with table service and kitchen printers. Neither documents Indian GST billing, and support comes from community forums or paid editions, so you'll need technical help to set them up properly. Our guide to open-source restaurant POS compares them with Odoo and ERPNext.

Avoid "free full version" downloads of paid POS

Search results for "restaurant POS free download full version" often lead to cracked copies of paid software. Don't install them. Pirated software is illegal, frequently bundled with malware that steals data, and can't be updated. As Barracuda's security researchers put it, "Pirate or cracked software can't receive updates, so security gaps remain." For a POS, that also means no GST changes and no fixes.

Where F&Bos fits: F&Bos doesn't have a free plan. Basic costs ₹6,000 per outlet per year (₹500 a month) plus GST, with free self-setup and a free 20-minute demo on your own menu. If you need inventory, kitchen display, CRM and payroll, Pro includes them for ₹15,000 per outlet per year. See how F&Bos restaurant POS works.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free restaurant POS software in India?

Yes. As of October 2026, Zoho POS has a free plan for businesses billing up to ₹12 lakh a year, Odoo's POS is free when it's your only Odoo app, Loyverse has a free core POS, Vyapar has a free mobile app, and Floreant POS and uniCenta oPOS are open-source POS systems you can download free. Each has limits on features, users, history or GST billing.

Which free restaurant POS supports GST billing?

Zoho POS's free plan includes GST invoices, and Vyapar is built around GST billing. Odoo supports GST through its India localisation, but confirm the bill format for POS orders. Loyverse, Floreant POS and uniCenta oPOS don't document an Indian GST bill with GSTIN and a CGST/SGST split, so check before you rely on them.

Is there a free restaurant POS for PC?

Floreant POS and uniCenta oPOS are open-source and can be downloaded free for Windows, Mac and Linux. Most other free options run on Android or iOS, or in a web browser. Vyapar's desktop version has a 7-day trial and then needs a paid plan.

Is it safe to download a 'free full version' of paid POS software?

No. Cracked or pirated POS software is illegal, often carries malware that can steal data, and can't receive updates, so GST changes and security fixes never arrive. Your sales and customer data are too important to risk.

When should a restaurant move from a free POS to a paid one?

When you hit the free plan's limits, need kitchen display, captain ordering, recipe-linked inventory, CRM or multi-outlet reports, or spend more time working around the software than serving guests. Compare the 3-year cost of upgrading with paid alternatives.
