Odoo POS is a strong choice if you want your restaurant POS inside a full ERP with accounting, inventory and manufacturing, and you have technical help. The POS with restaurant mode can be free as your one Odoo app, but the kitchen display and Swiggy/Zomato integration need Enterprise, recipe costing needs the Manufacturing app, and most restaurants budget for implementation help. Single outlets wanting a ready-to-use Indian restaurant POS may find a restaurant-specific system simpler.
If you're comparing several systems, see our list of the best restaurant POS software in India; for how a POS works, our restaurant POS system guide.
What Odoo POS is
Odoo is an open-source business suite with dozens of apps, from accounting and inventory to manufacturing and HR. Point of Sale is one of those apps, with a restaurant mode for dine-in. The latest major version, Odoo 20, was released in September 2026. It comes as Community (free, open-source, self-hosted) or Enterprise (paid, on Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or your own server).
Restaurant features: what's free and what isn't
| Feature | Availability | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Point of Sale with restaurant mode | Free as your one app | Floor plans, transfer and merge, split bills, courses, kitchen printers, tips, QR menu and table ordering |
| Loyalty and coupons | Free (part of POS) | Loyalty cards, coupons and promotions |
| India GST receipts | Free (India localisation) | HSN code per line and a CGST/SGST/IGST summary on the receipt |
| Kitchen (preparation) display | Enterprise | Stages, timers, recall and an order-status screen |
| Swiggy and Zomato | Enterprise 18+ and a separate UrbanPiper subscription | Aggregator orders into the POS |
| Table reservations | Installs the Appointments app | Bookings linked to tables and capacities |
| Recipe costing (bills of materials) | Needs the Manufacturing app | Kits deduct stock by component |
| Accounting and GST returns | Needs Accounting | GSTR-1, GSTR-2B and GSTR-3B, e-invoicing |
Based on Odoo's documentation and the modules in its public Community code, checked 11 October 2026.
Strong restaurant basics
Odoo's restaurant mode is genuinely capable: a live floor plan you can edit on the POS screen, transfer and merge tables, split bills, fire courses one at a time, and route items to kitchen printers by category. Self-ordering covers a QR menu, QR table ordering and kiosk mode.
Odoo pricing in India

Prices from Odoo's India pricing page on 11 October 2026. Odoo also lists a lower-priced Light User for staff who only use the Point of Sale. Hosting on Odoo.sh is extra.
What moves a restaurant onto a paid plan: installing any second app, such as Manufacturing for recipe costing, Accounting for GST returns, or Appointments for table bookings. The kitchen display and the Swiggy/Zomato connector are Enterprise features.
Indian GST and payments
- GST receipts: Odoo's India POS module prints an HSN code per line and a CGST/SGST/IGST summary. Odoo's documentation focuses on invoices and returns rather than POS receipts, so print a test bill and check it against our GST restaurant bill format.
- E-invoicing and returns: available through Odoo's India localisation and Accounting.
- Payment terminals: Odoo supports Pine Labs (cards and UPI, India only) and Razorpay; Odoo 20 adds static UPI QR codes. Paytm isn't on Odoo's terminal list.
Swiggy and Zomato
Odoo connects to Swiggy and Zomato through UrbanPiper. Odoo's documentation says this needs Odoo Enterprise 18 or later, a valid UrbanPiper subscription and a reseller account with each platform. Odoo Community doesn't support it. Odoo 20 adds Swiggy Bolt and Zomato Express.
Offline mode
Odoo POS keeps taking orders and printing on local printers when the internet drops, and syncs later. But payment terminals, new customer registration and real-time stock don't work offline, and Odoo warns against reloading the browser while offline. For Indian conditions, test this carefully. Our guide to cloud vs offline restaurant POS explains what to check.
Hardware
Odoo recommends network-connected Epson ePOS printers, such as the TM-m30 series, which work without extra hardware. Many other printers, including common Epson TM-T20 and TM-T88 models and generic ESC/POS printers, need Odoo's IoT system, which requires a subscription for production use. Bluetooth printers aren't supported. Check your printers before you commit; see our hardware setup checklist.
Implementation and total cost
Odoo sells Success Packs of implementation hours. On its India page in October 2026, first-time customers saw:
| Pack | Hours | New-customer price |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 4 hours | Rs 15,793 |
| Basic | 25 hours | Rs 81,234.50 |
| Standard | 50 hours | Rs 1,58,230.05 |
Larger packs and onsite work cost more, and many businesses use an Odoo partner instead. Work out your total cost as: subscription (per user, if more than one app) + Enterprise features you need + UrbanPiper + implementation hours + compatible hardware. Our restaurant POS cost guide shows how to compare that over three years.
Strengths and limitations
Where Odoo is strong
- A capable restaurant POS that can be free as a single app, with unlimited users.
- One system for POS, inventory, manufacturing, accounting and more, if you want a full ERP.
- Built-in Indian GST receipts, e-invoicing and returns, and Pine Labs and Razorpay terminals.
- Open source: you can host it yourself and customise it with a developer.
Where it's harder
- Key restaurant features cost extra: Enterprise for the kitchen display and Swiggy/Zomato, plus a separate UrbanPiper subscription; Manufacturing for recipe costing.
- Offline mode doesn't cover payment terminals or new customers.
- Printer and hardware choices are narrower without the IoT system.
- Setup usually needs paid implementation hours or a partner.
Who Odoo POS suits
- Good fit: businesses already on Odoo, groups that want one ERP across restaurants, retail and manufacturing, and owners with in-house or partner technical support.
- Less ideal: single outlets that want a ready-to-use Indian restaurant POS without implementation work.
Alternatives to Odoo POS
- Restaurant-specific POS systems such as Petpooja, Restroworks, eZee Optimus and F&Bos, built around Indian restaurant workflows.
- Zoho POS (formerly Zakya), with a free plan and paid plans per location.
- Open-source desktop POS such as Floreant POS and uniCenta oPOS; see our guide to open-source restaurant POS.
Our comparison of the best restaurant POS software in India covers ten of these side by side, and our F&Bos vs a typical POS page shows how F&Bos differs. For head-to-head verdicts on five of them, see our restaurant POS comparison for India.

Frequently asked questions
Is Odoo POS free for restaurants?
Odoo markets its restaurant POS, with floor plans, split bills and QR ordering, as free with unlimited users when Point of Sale is your one Odoo app on Odoo Online. Adding another app, such as Manufacturing for recipe costing, Accounting or Appointments for reservations, moves you to a paid per-user plan. The kitchen display and Swiggy/Zomato integration need Enterprise.
Does Odoo POS support GST in India?
Yes. Odoo's India localisation includes a GST point-of-sale module whose receipt shows HSN codes and a CGST/SGST/IGST summary, and Odoo Accounting supports e-invoicing and GSTR filing. Odoo's official documentation doesn't cover Indian POS receipts in detail, so check a sample bill against your requirements before going live.
Does Odoo POS integrate with Swiggy and Zomato?
Through UrbanPiper. Odoo's documentation says it needs Odoo Enterprise 18 or later, a valid UrbanPiper subscription and a reseller account with each platform. Odoo Community doesn't support it.
Does Odoo POS work offline?
Partly. It can keep taking orders and printing on local printers without internet, and syncs later. Payment terminals, new customer registration and real-time stock don't work offline, and Odoo warns not to reload the browser while offline.
How much does it cost to implement Odoo POS?
Odoo sells Success Packs of implementation hours; on its India pricing page the Starter pack (4 hours) was Rs 15,793 for new customers in October 2026, and larger packs run into lakhs. Many restaurants also use an Odoo partner. Add per-user subscription costs if you use more than one app.
