A kitchen display that never loses a ticket

Every order from the counter, a captain's phone or a QR menu lands on the right kitchen screen the moment it's placed, with modifiers highlighted and the clock running. No paper tickets lost at 9pm on a Saturday.

Why it matters

Paper tickets fail at the worst moment

In a busy Indian kitchen, a KOT printed at the counter has to be carried, read and remembered. Tickets get stuck under a plate, a modifier gets missed, a mid-order change is shouted across the pass, and the table waits while the kitchen argues about what was ordered.

A kitchen display removes the hand-offs. Each station sees only its own items, in the order they came in, with the special requests highlighted and a timer that shows which ticket is running late. Because the screen is part of the POS, the same order the cashier or captain entered is the order the kitchen cooks.

Not every kitchen needs screens everywhere. A tandoor station by a hot oven may stay on paper while the curry and dessert stations move to screens. Our KDS vs KOT guide covers how to decide.

Key features

What the kitchen display does

ROUTING

Orders go to the right station

Tandoor, wok, curry, dessert: each station sees only its items, so no one reads a ticket meant for someone else.

CLARITY

Modifiers highlighted

"No onion", "extra spicy" and "Jain" stand out on screen instead of hiding in handwriting.

CHANGES

Mid-order changes handled

When a table adds two naan or cancels a dish, the change reaches the kitchen screen instead of a shouted message.

TIMING

Prep time tracked

Each order shows how long it has been waiting, so late tickets are visible before the guest complains.

SOURCES

Every order channel

Counter billing, captain ordering at the table and QR menu orders all feed the same kitchen queue.

PRINTERS

Works alongside KOT printers

Keep paper KOTs at stations where a screen doesn't suit, and run screens everywhere else.

How it works

From order to pass in four steps

STEP 1

Order is placed

At the counter, by a captain at the table, or by the guest through your QR menu.

STEP 2

Kitchen sees it instantly

Items split by station, with modifiers and table or token number on screen.

STEP 3

Cooks mark items ready

Each station marks its items done; the order's timer shows how long it took.

STEP 4

Serve and review

The order goes out, and prep times feed your reports so you can spot the slow station.

Buyer's checklist

What to check before you choose

A kitchen display is only useful if it fits how your kitchen already works. Ask every vendor about these points in the demo.

Who it's for

Kitchens that get the most from a screen

Busy dinner service

Several stations, table numbers on every ticket and courses that need to land together.

Token numbers on screen and a visible timer keep the queue moving.

CLOUD KITCHENS

Several brands, one kitchen

Prep-time tracking shows which brand or dish is slowing dispatch.

CAFÉS

Questions

Common questions

Do I need to replace my KOT printers?

No. The kitchen display works alongside KOT printers, so you can keep paper at a station where a screen doesn't suit and use screens elsewhere. Our KDS vs KOT guide covers when each makes sense.

Can each kitchen station see only its own items?

Yes. Orders are routed to the right station automatically, so the tandoor sees tandoor items and the dessert station sees desserts.

Do QR menu and captain orders show on the kitchen display?

Yes. Orders placed at the counter, by captains at the table and by guests through the QR menu all reach the kitchen the same way.

Do Zomato and Swiggy orders appear automatically?

Not yet. Direct Zomato and Swiggy integration is on the roadmap. Today, delivery orders are recorded in the POS like any other order.

Which plan includes the kitchen display?

Pro (₹15,000 per outlet per year) and Enterprise include it. On Basic it comes with the Kitchen & Table Service add-on at ₹4,000/year. Prices exclude 18% GST.

Does it track how long dishes take?

Yes. Prep time is tracked per order, so you can see which station or dish is slowing service.
